Zapier is an Integration Platform as a Service (IPaaS). Its purpose is to allow users to connect applications that are not already natively connected to each other. Whereas most API integrations require a direct and explicit connection to be made with the other application, Zapier provides a service in which both applications connect via Zapier, and through Zapier they can communicate. Zapier acts as a brokering service between other 3rd party applications, and its connectivity to other applications is entirely up to those other applications and Zapier. As a result, we can only directly support our connection to Zapier and not actual use cases of connecting with other 3rd party systems that may be also connected to Zapier, such as Hubspot and SalesForce.
Functionality
Currently, Ovation's integration is a one-way sync, from Zapier to Ovation, of provider account data. In this way, Ovation, through Zapier, can consume information from another system that is connected to Zapier. However, an outside system cannot consume changes made in Ovation. The intended use of the Zapier integration is that the 3rd party CRM acts as the system of record, and Ovation acts only as a consumer of the information that is principally maintained in the other system.
Three actions in the LIMS are able to be pushed to the LIMS by Zapier, they are:
Zapier Action
Description
Create/Update Provider Account
The registration of a new provider account or the changing of an existing provider accounts' metadata
Create/Update Contact
The registration of a new contact or the changing of an existing contact's metadata
Create/Update Provider Account Contact Provider Link

Examples
Ovation does not have explicit support for either of the examples below. Because Zapier and the nature of its connection with other applications cannot be guaranteed by Ovation, its important to recognize that the below examples are merely examples of how Zapier might be configured to be used to Ovation. For more details about how to configure Zaps, please see Zapier's Help Center.
