Configuring a COVID-19 PCR Test Panel

This article describes how to add configurations to a COVID-19 Test Panel in order for the uploaded results in a workflow to be properly interpreted.

Note: These configurations are for test panels that ONLY test for COVID-19. If the panel also detects other pathogens such as RSV or Influenza, then please see the articles for Creating a New Test Panel, Adding Tests to a Test Panel, and Setting up Test Configurations.

Configure the Test Panel

  1. If the COVID-19 test panel has not yet been created, first create the test panel and tests using the article for Creating a New Test Panel and Adding Tests to a Test Panel, noting the following:
    1. The Test Panel Type must be Infectious Disease
    2. One of the following must be used as the Test Panel Code:
      1. IDT-COVID-19
      2. TF-COVID-19
      3. AB-COVID-19
      4. PE-COVID-19
  2. Navigate to More > Lab > Test Panels, and select the COVID-19 test panel
  3. Click the green Add Attribute button under Custom Attributes
  4. Two new fields will appear where you can enter the Key and Value
    1. If the data file uploaded in the workflow will contain interpreted results such as Positive/Negative, enter the keys and values for IVD/Interpreted in the table below
    2. If the data file uploaded in the workflow will contain values to be interpreted such as Ct values, enter the keys and values for Raw Data in the table below

Configure the Tests

Note: If the Test Panel is IVD/Interpreted (i.e., the data file uploaded in the workflow will contain interpreted results such as Positive/Negative), skip this section since Tests do not need to be configured.

  1. Navigate to More > Lab > Tests
  2. Locate one of the viral genes in the panel and select that Test
    1. In the Test Configuration section, click the green + button
    2. Fill in the applicable fields
    3. Click the green Save button at the top right corner of the Test Configuration section

Note: For more details on how to set up Test Configurations, please refer to the article on Setting up Test Configurations

  1. Repeat steps 1-2 for each viral gene
  2. If the test panel contains internal positive control gene(s), select that Test from the Tests page
    1. Click the Add Attribute button under Custom Attributes
    2. Two new fields will appear where you can enter the Key and Value
      1. Enter the Key: isControl
      2. Enter the Value: true
    3. Add the Test Configurations as described in steps 2a - 2c
